What
we built

Room 808 is a design and engineering studio in Los Angeles. We make websites, products and digital experiences for restaurants, companies and artists who want something that couldn’t belong to anyone else. Every project starts with the business, not a template: what it has to do, who it’s for and how it should feel. Then we design and engineer every layer to deliver it, from the first impression to the infrastructure underneath.

Alina’s Room

Debut EP, better left behind

Alina's room, the interactive bedroom built from the EP cover

We cut the hand-drawn EP cover into its individual objects and rebuilt it as a live room. There's no menu: the room is the interface, and each object opens part of the release.

Backend

  • Anonymous fan wall — notes to Alina, bot-checked, held in a moderation queue
  • List sign-up — email or SMS straight into her Laylo list
  • Referral loop — every fan gets a personal room link; credit is counted once, server-side
  • Privacy-light analytics — every drawer, share and outbound click counted, no cookies or IPs
  • Date-gated releases — full songs ship themselves on release day

Features

  • Day / night — the lamp switches the whole scene
  • Hidden-object hunt — find her lost keepsakes to unlock a demo
  • 11 easter eggs — collected in her diary, which remembers you when you come back
  • Release-day takeover — a one-time “you were here day one” moment
  • Shareables — colour-her-in, polaroids and wallpapers that carry the room link
  • Generated sound — guitar plucks and room tone made live in the browser

earthgirl

Artist site + tarot deck

earthgirl tarot cards for the Indigo EP

A tarot deck tied to her songs. Every card sits in cyanotype blue and turns to full colour when you draw it.

Backend

  • Edge worker — serves the site and its API from Cloudflare's network
  • One-field sign-up — phone or email, routed to Laylo
  • Event counts — draws, shares, taps and sign-ups, with a private stats page
  • Editable link-in-bio — reorder and add links without redeploying the site

Features

  • Daily draw — one card per visitor per day, with a reading and her song for it
  • Story-ready share — a 1080×1920 card image made on your phone
  • Release pages — each release has its card, with a note on why that card
  • Pre-save flips to Listen — on release day, in every visitor's browser
  • Per-platform bio links — Instagram and TikTok clicks tracked separately

Katharine Fountain

Artist site + publishing tools

Katharine Fountain home page

A voicemail feed and a written diary that Katharine publishes herself, set in her own brand fonts and a custom font made from her handwriting.

Backend

  • Her own admin — private sign-in for drafting, publishing and uploading
  • Direct-to-storage uploads — audio and photos go straight to R2, with no bandwidth bill
  • Social planner — one calendar for Instagram, TikTok and Shorts, where artist and creative team each sign off. Any edit reopens their approval
  • Built-in stats — page views and taps, with no cookies or IPs
  • Inquiries — the contact form emails her directly

Features

  • Voice notes — recorded in the browser, with waveforms and a custom player
  • Typeset diary — each paragraph picks from her brand type styles, never a free-for-all font menu
  • What you write is what fans see — the editor and the site share the same type system
  • EPK and links — press kit and link-in-bio built in

Open Season

A game for Weston Estate

Open Season gameplay with the on-device hand tracking view

A finger-gun dinner party. You point at your camera and shoot up a candlelit room in 60 seconds, set to “Moth to a Flame.” Hand tracking runs on your own device, so no video ever leaves your browser.

Backend

  • Entry gate — pick a handle and opt in to the band's list; contact details are stored only as a salted hash
  • Server-checked rewards — each win unlocks six more seconds of an unreleased teaser, up to 30. The server checks every claim and rate-limits it, so the cap can't be beaten
  • Secure teaser — short-lived signed playback tokens with a per-session watermark
  • Leaderboard — scores and wins, with no phone numbers stored

Features

  • Camera controls — your hand is the controller
  • Auto highlights — the last moments of every round, saved as a shareable clip
  • Pick up where you left off — returning players skip the gate and keep their progress

Scene Game

For 6arelyhuman, Digital Dancer

“A 6arelyhuman kidnapping!” A side-scrolling platformer for the album, played with a glowstick.

Backend

  • Installable — add it to your home screen and it runs as a full-screen app

Features

  • Full move set — glowstick, launcher, air pogo, dash
  • Fit check — strike a pose mid-level
  • Sassy Army — call in backup
  • Keyboard and touch — plays on desktop or phone
